    Function- To represent the them of time
    Content- The angel carries a type of gun created in Spain.
    Context- The counsel of trent, a catholic counsel, banned the illustration of angels except those of the three main archangels.
    Change- This fashionable angel shows a fusing of European and indigenous aesthetics.
    Interpretation- This angel represents the triumph of catholicism over the native religions of the world.
    Artistic intent- Angels painted like this were meant to replace native deities of the regions that Christianity had overtaken.
    Audience response- A priest, Francisco de Ávila referred to these types of paintings in his writings when he said that the army of angels during the second coming would be lavishly dressed.
