    Form: Canvas
    Function: To discourage race mixing
Content: the husband wears french style European clothing
Context: a mestizo is the child of a European man and an elite Indigenous woman
Tradition: The use of painting as propaganda to discourage race mixing which is similar to several east asian works
Interpretation: The young servant looks up to the father to allude the greatness of European blood
Artistic Intent: To make it seem that families mixed with European blood were happier than those not
Audience Response: European men who went to the colonial Americas mixed with the locals but still didn't approve of inter-mixing which was very hypocritical
