    Function-To decorate a Pope's library
    Content-Plato and Aristotle are in the center of the piece.
    Context- Located in the Vatican city
    Change- This painting is meant to represent philosophy, while the painting across it, represents religion, which means that these two ideals are represented equally. This is one of the first examples of this occurring
    Interpretation-The robes on plato and Aristotle are meant to represent the four elements.
    Artistic intent-This painting is meant to be divided based on the ideals of each philosopher.
    Audience response- This painting pays homage to some of the most famous artists such as Michelangelo and da Vinci.

    Context:was commissioned by Pope Julius 2
    Tradition: Painting was one of a series meant to show the vastness of the papal library
    Interpretation: the painting was inspired by Da Vinci's The Last Supper
    Artistic Intent: nobility and monumentality of forms parallel to the greatness of figures represented
    Audience Response: Raphael used Greek models for calculating the proportions, which were later adopted by the Romans and then Renaissance humanists.
