    Form- Embroidery
    Function- To tell the story of William's conquest of England
    Content- Flat figures, no background
    Context- Located in the Bayeux cathedral in France
    Tradition- Tells a story similar to Roman narratives.
    Interpretation- It is unknown as to how this tapestry is to be displayed, it may of been hung on a wall in a hall.
    Artistic intent- Meant to show the treachery of Harold of England, who betrayed Willam by breaking his vow of loyalty.
    Audience response- Commissioned by Bishop Odo.

    Content:Foot soldiers carrying spears and axes
    Context: Is actually an embroidery
    Tradition: Contains registers that help tell the story
    Interpretation: Probably designed by a man and executed by a woman
    Artistic Intent: To show scenes of everyday life
    Audience Response: made within a generation of the war -- important because first that was made this close to the actual event
