    Form-Painted terra cotta
    Function- Is supposed to be a "spirit army" to protect the emperor in the afterlife.
    Content-The figures are six feet tall.
    Context- Discovered in 1974
    Tradition- Oriented North and South, similar to other buildings during this era.
    Interpretation- Daoism is shown through the individualization of each soldier.
    Artistic intent- Supposed to represent marching soldiers.
    Audience response- Researchers fear that uncovering the tomb may lead to deterioration of the statues.

    Content: about 8000 terra cotta warriors
    Context:Qin is the source of the Western name for China
    Tradition: The planning of tombs begins when the person takes power, similar to what the Egyptians did
    Interpretation: The warriors were the work of a highly skilled assembly line
    Artistic Intent: Represent the emperor's achievements and wealth and keep him satisfied in the afterlife
    Audience Response: the first warrior was discovered by villagers in 1974
