    Form- Stone masonry
    Function- Is a palace complex for the royal family.
    Content- 9000 rooms
    Context- Located in Beijing, china
    Tradition- Only royal members could enter this complex, similar to how only religious leaders could enter some parts of the temples.
    interpretation-Animals and figures on the roof were placed there to ward of evil.
    Artistic intent- The throne room was placed symbolically at the center.
    Audience response- Was made capital of the empire during the Ming and Quing dynasties.

    Function: Was the seat of Chinese power
    Content: yellow tile roofs and red painted wooden beams
    Context: largest and most complex Chinese architectural ensemble in existence
    Tradition: Built on ancient religious and philosophical principles pf harmony and balance
    Interpretation: the 30 feet tall walls were to keep citizens out and those inside in
    Artistic Intent: Originally built to consolidate the emperor's power
    Audience Response: Today the complex houses the Palace Museum
