    Form- Stained glass
    Function- Is part of a lancet arch window.
    Content- At the top the holy spirit, represented as a bird is seen descending to give the virgin and her child a blessing.
    Context- Located in Chartres, France
    Tradition- The bands across the surface is a common characteristic of Gothic stained glass.
    Interpretation- The four columns, which support the seat of Jesus and Mary may represent the four evangelists.
    Artistic intent- The shades of color patterns reflect onto the grey stones of the cathedral.
    Audience response- The image of Mary has been an image of great respect.

    Context: Was -undamaged by fire of 1194
    Tradition:Use of Christian imagery
    Interpretation: there is a marked difference in the Romanesque v. Gothic style
    Artistic Intent: were meant to make people feel completely surrounded by light; inundated by the spiritual presence
    Audience Response: People traveled for pilgrimage to this church
